News from the Village Hall 18th July 2020
We are delighted that we have been able to reopen the Village Hall. Our aim is to ensure that the building is as COVID-19 safe as possible. To achieve this, we have done a COVID-19 specific risk assessment and produced additional terms and conditions for hirers. These are based on the Government’s guidance for community buildings. This new paperwork is available on the Village Hall website. We all have a part to play in minimising risk of infection and therefore we ask that when visiting the Village Hall you follow the advice of the person organising the activity you are attending, and follow the guidance clearly posted throughout the building. We suggest you wear a face covering, given this is a public space.
We are also very pleased that the play area is once again available for children to enjoy. Before you visit the play area with your children, we encourage you to do a couple of things: ensure you have hand sanitiser with you to avoid cross contamination from play equipment and also have a chat with you child about the possibility that if the area is busy, you may need to leave and come back later. There is additional guidance on both gates to the play area.
Village Show 2020 Update
We are still hoping to have a village show on Saturday 8th August, especially as you may have been using the time in lockdown to tend your garden and be creative, with arts, crafts cooking and/or photography. However, it does depend on the government allowing community centres such as the village hall to re-open. We are dependent on what government rules are in force at the time, and we might need either to delay until September or cancel altogether.
Sheriff Hutton Village Market
The market committee recently held an online meeting to discuss when we feel that is it safe and appropriate to re-open the market. It was agreed that we would like to propose that the next market will be held in the village on Sunday 13th September subject to Government guidance in relation to the Covid 19 situation.
We would welcome all comments from local residents regarding our proposal to operate in September. Please forward your comments and or any suggestions that you may have to email@example.com
Message from the Jumblies
July already!! At the time of writing whilst lockdown restrictions are easing, we still have no idea when we will be able to mix freely again. Even if social distancing is reduced to 1metre, practically it will still be impossible for us to run Jumble Sales.
In August we will reassess the situation regarding our Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which is scheduled for September.
